moving dogs to hawaii

Moving Dogs To Hawaii - Thank you Deborah for trusting our services to move her three dogs from Washington to Hawaii! Here is his experience traveling with us.

I have lived in California all my life. Our plan was to retire in the Seattle area or Kauai. Then my husband died and plans for Kauai made sense for the widow. I quit my job and moved to the Seattle area to see if I could make it through the winter, but my health issues made winter too hard on my body, so I decided on plan B - moving to Oahu.

Moving Dogs To Hawaii

I spent six months trying to find a way to get my dead husband's dog and my two dogs on the plane. Hitting a dead end every time. I completed all the blood work and other paperwork in Hawaii to leave but I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get a 300 pound dog, his crates, my luggage and myself to the airport to fly. If you want to release your pet the same day, you must fly in early because the processing office closes early if you arrive in Honolulu on afternoon flights. If you check in after 3, your pet will go to the house even if you have the right papers - only at night. But you have to pay for it. And three times. It's not cheap.

I chose because I want to leave that airport and pick up my dogs on the same day. Garrett went through all the steps necessary to get the job done. If I had tried to do it myself, I wouldn't have known that one of my dogs was too big for a regular crate. Imagine going to the airport and leaving one of the three dogs behind, or missing the flight entirely and having to find a custom box and return. It would be a nightmare. Luckily I boarded the plane and as soon as I sat down I was told that my dogs would be boarding with me. Garrett kept in touch with me throughout the flight and beyond.

These dogs are the ones I left in my family. It was important to me that they arrived happy and stress-free.

To get started, use your pet and transportation service providers. Before the trip, arrange for your pet to visit your home in a familiar place. Put a cozy pet bed, a pile of fabric, or a favorite toy inside to keep the owner comfortable. The idea here is to make it a familiar place, so even if the animal is surrounded by other strange things - it will still feel comfortable for the network manager.

If your pet uses the carrier as a comfort zone (it can vary from pet to pet), start putting it in your car. Whenever possible, try to end each trip with a reward - such as a trip to the park or a special meal. This helps to associate being on the carrier with good things, which helps reduce their stress as they go through the process.

As the pet grows more comfortable with the carrier, it may be beneficial to put it in the carrier overnight. Don't force this but also reward them with love or treats the next morning. The carrier should be a place of comfort for them, not a place of fear.

Keep your pet company on the plane by using bedding or old clothes - something that smells like home. No sleep
